There have been cases of dengue throughout the nation. Dengue fever is caused by mosquitoes. It is an acute febrile infectious disease caused by the dengue virus. Typical symptoms include headache, a characteristic skin rash, and muscle and joint pains. Dengue is usually transmitted by the mosquito Aedes aegypti, and rarely Aedes albopictus. There is currently no available vaccine, but measures to reduce the habitat and the number of mosquitoes, and limiting exposure to bites, are used to decrease the incidence of dengue.

So, we must clear the breeding areas of these harmful mosquitoes, as they breed in stagnant water and at any places that traps water like old tyres, empty containers ponds and the so makes a perfect place for the mosquito larvae to develop into disease carrying insects. Mosquito’s will breed in any accumulation of fresh, salt or waste water. This includes flower vases and pots, discarded tyres, roof guttering and water tanks. They also breed in salt marshes, mangroves, swamps, lagoons, forests and scrub.

Do not leave old tyres, empty cans or containers in the garden. We should clear up these items. In spite of that, we can implement the 3 R’s i.e. refuse, reuse and recycle. Old tyres and flowers pots need to be repainted, so that they look beautiful. Empty cans and bottles can be collected and sent to recollection centre. By doing this, we can keep our environment free from pollution and waste disposal.

Fish ponds and aquarium tanks too, must be clean twice a week. Keep surroundings clean and free from rubbish such old leaves from trees. Cut long grass in your lawn or garden once a month.

Inform the authorities such as the Health Department or the City Municipal Council so that they take action by sending men to spray the insecticides. How Can we protect  our Family? Fasten screen windows and doors at our homes. When mosquitoes are present, spray an environmentally acceptable aerosol underneath beds, behind furniture and other dark places before dusk. Ensure the repellent is reliable by containing no more than 20% DIETHYL TOLUAMIDE (DEET) or picaridin. If going outside in the evening, wear protective clothing (i.e. long pants and long sleeves) and use a mosquito repellent. Sleep under a mosquito net in unscreened houses and while camping.

The process of producing a good magazine usually begins by compiling materials. Writers have to hand in their draft stories and photographers must submit before deadline. Designers prepare layout pages and editors have to edit for mistakes before the films and printing plates are produced. Finally, the magazines are printed and copies of them are distributed to distributors for marketing.
